If you can get out where there are people, listen to them. Make a few notes, and use the experience as the basis of your writing.
If you can’t, turn on the television or radio for fifteen or twenty minutes, and jot down something interesting. In this case, definitely try to avoid writing about the actual context.
If life is dealing you lemons, you should still be able to pull half a dozen words from the air. Not as much fun as eavesdropping, though. So if you go the word list route, how about—for kicks—you use each word twice.
